Emily Hellyer has been a grade 1-2 teacher with the Calgary Board of Education since 2009. Emily lives in Chestermere, Alberta with her husband and their six year old daughter and three year old son. Before she was a teacher she was a dance instructor. In the summer she provides dance workshops and choreography for competition dancers in Alberta and British Columbia. Performing Art and Visual Art have always been important to Emily. As a teacher she weaves art into every subject. Emily believes, when children are doing art they are focused and given the ability to express their learning in a variety of ways that keep them in their comfort zone while pushing them outside the box.
