Martina Metz taught middle school math and science for 15 years prior to obtaining her Ph.D. in Mathematics Education at the University of Alberta. For the past 5 years, she has been part of the Math Minds Initiative at the Werklund School of Education in Calgary. Her current research interests include teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge of mathematics, intentional use of variation to prompt learner attention to increasingly broad and integrated understandings of mathematics, and consideration of how resource features that support student and teacher understanding of mathematics
