Kristian Basaraba is presently a high school science teacher at Next Step High school in Sherwood Park. He has a Master’s of Science in Science Education from Montana State University and has taught all levels of high school science, including International Baccalaureate and non-academic courses including Biology, Chemistry, Physics and General Science. He works frequently with Alberta Education to create, blueprint and establish standards for the Grade 12 Alberta Diploma Exams in Physics. He has recently been nominated for/won several awards, including the CAP Award for Excellence in Teaching High School Physics and the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta: Who Makes School Cool? Teacher Award. 

Kristian has presented to various professional groups, including Elk Island Public School Board, the University of Alberta Introductory Professional Term Science Major and Minor students, and the North Central Alberta Teacher’s Convention. His presentation topics have included “Exploring the Inquiry Continuum in Lab Investigations for Physics 20 and 30”, “Biff, Bang, Boom Science: Science Demos to Engage and Inspire” and “Peer Feedback in Secondary School Science”.
