How can non-Indigenous teachers begin to weave Indigenous knowledge into everyday teaching in a way that moves beyond surface-level awareness? Our workshop brings together two distinct lenses - that of an Indigenous scholar and teacher educator, and that of a first-generation K-12 teacher. Together, we aim to start a dialogue that potentiates meaningful ways that Indigenous and Western knowledge systems can be blended together in response to TRC's Calls to Action. We position ourselves within our shared history of this land and reflect on the responsibilities teachers of all subjects have within this difficult knowledge. We introduce research that has been done in the area of teaching for reconciliation, share stepping stones for weaving Indigenous and Western pedagogies together, and provide practical examples of projects.
