Teaching Hope in the Age of Trump
In this session, teachers will learn strategies and activities to help students avoid concluding that "we're all screwed".
The mental health of our students is being impacted both by the chaos in the world and the way that
Teachers will hear stories of the real power of youth to create change (locally and globally) and then the tools to allow their students to feel hope through action.
We will discuss strategies when hearing claims of #fakenews, xenophobia, apocalyptic environmental predictions, gun violence, walls, and #metoo.
This session will allow teachers to combat the doom and gloom from their students' news feeds with active learning in themes based around community building, environmental restoration, emotional intelligence, Truth and Reconciliation, gender equality, poverty and more!
