The focus of this workshop session is to help participants understand the complexities of ADHD and delineate key interventions promoting student success. Specifically, an overview of ADHD is provided, including its assets, challenges, and associated executive functioning deficits. Most of the session; however, will focus on research-based strategies used to help children with ADHD maximize their engagement in class and compensate for the various difficulties that impede their successful functioning in the classroom. Practical case-base material will be presented to teach participants how to adapt quality intervention programs to meet the unique needs of students. Understanding the complex nature of ADHD and the nature of the difficulties they have, teachers will be better equipped to optimally support students with ADHD in their classroom.
