Taking environmental action: supporting youth through an action project

Environmental and Outdoor EducationCareer and Technology Studies and FoundationsSocial Studies
1 Hour Session
Thursday Feb 14   09:00 AM to 10:00 AM (1 hour)
This session will walk educators though a student-led planning process for an environmental action project. We will explore ways to collaboratively choose an issue, before working as a team to build a meaningful and impactful project to tackle this issue. We will discuss ways to keep youth engaged in the project, and ways for educators to support projects using real examples and adaptable resources. The session will culminate by exploring the question: “So we’ve finished our project; what next?” We will discuss tangible next steps that interested students can take, linking to a large number of environmental education organisations in Alberta.
