Research has indicated that keeping the home language alive is important for English Language Learners (ELLs) (e.g., Cummins & Early, 2011) as it supports English language development. The following presentation will empower teachers with strategies and practical ideas to implement in the classroom and to share with parents to try at home. This session will be facilitated by members of the Calgary Board of Education ELL team.
