Creating Successful Teams

Track:
Physical Education

1 Hour Session
When:
Friday Feb 15   09:00 AM to 10:00 AM (1 hour)
Where:
Creating a successful school sports team provides many challenges: significant turnover year-over-year, adolescent team members concerned with 'being cool' or getting recruited to post-secondary, competing time commitments, and many more school-sport specific issues. Coaches battle these threats to team success as they work towards building as strong a team as possible. This workshop highlights essentials of great teams, the concept and execution of 'core covenants' and 'non-negotiables', and provides examples that may shape a coach's approach. Methods to evoke and engage leadership across the team are also discussed. Finally, team roles are discussed and resources to help build on the workshop content are shared.
