In 2004, Edmonton's Great Western Garment provided factory jobs and security to many new immigrants, mainly women. This session features Alberta-based interdisciplinary lessons designed to complement historical narratives, songs and experience of various group of immigrant women who worked there. Lessons identify concepts and learning outcomes for grades 4, 5 and 7 Social Studies, English Language Arts, math and music. GWG: Piece by Piece: A Resource for Alberta Teachers 4, 5 and 7 will be provided.
