This secondary social studies-based session provides lessons and projects to teach the themes of industrialization, globalization and collectivism. It focuses on historical narratives, music of Maria Dunn and experiences of immigrant women who worked a the Great Western Garment (GWG) factory. The teaching resource GWG: Piece by Piece: A Resource for Alberta Teachers Grades 9, 10 and 12 will be provided free to participants. It is also available on line at www.afle.ca
