Using the Math Minds RaPID Model to Teach Math

This session will present the RaPID model of mathematics instruction developed by the Math Minds Initiative. The model is based on 5 years of classroom observation, the latest findings in cognitive science, and extensive conversations between teachers, resource developers, and researchers. In this session, we offer examples that demonstrate how the model is like / unlike other teaching approaches popular in schools today and offer a variety of strategies that support learner attention to important mathematical ideas.
