Interfering For Their Enjoyment in Physics 30

Track:
Science
What:
Half Day Workshop
When:
Thursday Feb 14   12:30 PM to 03:15 PM (2 hours 45 minutes)
Where:
Student learning is helped by repetition. It is beneficial to use a lab skill more than once to get more of our students to internalize it. In this hands on session I will present a set of experiments that illustrate how double and multiple slit interference patterns can be used to measure wavelengths and small distances (as part of the EMR unit), to measure Planck’s constant and Bohr energy levels of hydrogen, and to work with different spectral types (as part of the Atomic Physics unit).
