This interactive session begins with a discussion of the new Leadership Quality Standard (LQS) and its place within the triad of standards that make up the Professional Practice Standards for the Teaching Profession of Alberta. Participants will engage in a conversation on the need to develop schools as communities of leaders where leadership is fostered in all teachers in addition to the formal roles of principal/vice principal. If the core of leadership for learning is leading teacher learning, how can we support our formal school leaders in that work? This interactive session will not only provide school leaders with practical information for providing educational leadership to their teachers, it is also an opportunity to celebrate the value of having certificated teachers serve as school leaders.
