Physical Education has a purpose beyond other disciplines. There is a curriculum but it’s also about teaching a love of physical activity. Or put another way, if you don’t also teach a love of physical activity, it defeats the purpose and there are direct and potentially lifelong implications for a child’s health and wellness. In this presentation, Olympic Skeleton Champion Duff Gibson talks about teaching a love for physical activity in light of current trends both in and outside of schools. Topics include the factors affecting participation in sport and physical activity, and fostering a growth mindset.
