Take the Action Challenge: Developing knowledge and skills through environmental action

Environmental and Outdoor EducationScience
1 Hour Session
Thursday Feb 14   09:00 AM to 10:00 AM (1 hour)
With youth spending less time outdoors, it is critical to provide environmental learning that connects them with nature and builds care for environmental issues. CPAWS Southern Alberta will demonstrate how to facilitate student inspired action projects where students tackle one or more conservation issues. These projects can be simple or complex and are most successful when focused at the community level, increasing relevancy to students. Action projects meet knowledge outcomes, while developing critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork skills. Teachers leave this session with ideas and resources to bring stewardship alive in your classroom while meeting curriculum objectives!
